Groups Management

Introduction

This section of the Groups module allows users to see an overview of their Groups, current and past, and manage multiple aspects of them in one place.


Creating a Group Category

  1. Navigate to the ‘Management’ tab of the Group Module.
  2. Click the blue ‘Manage Categories’ button in the top-right hand corner of the page.
  3. Click the green ‘Add Category’ button in the top-right hand corner of the page.
  4. Enter the Category Name.
  5. Enter the URL Name that will appear after your SU domain.
  6. Click the tick box to denote whether the Category is a main Category or Subcategory. For example, if you have already created a ‘Sports’ category, you might create a Subcategory for ‘Outdoor Sports’ or ‘Individual Sports’.
  7. Click the tick box to denote whether the Group is Active.
  8. Click ‘Create’.

Creating a Group

  1. Navigate to the ‘Management’ tab of the Groups Module
  2. Click the green ‘Create Group button in the top-right hand corner of the page
  3. Enter the Group Name
  4. Enter the URL Name
  5. Select the Category, from a list you created in the previous step
  6. Enter a Description
  7. Enter their Email Address: - If you would like the Group to send out emails via the student dashboard, this must be a whitelisted domain by SUMS. Please email [email protected] - Please also note that we do not have authentication to send from university .ac.uk email addresses
  8. Enter the Member Threshold – the number of members before a Group is considered “Active”
  9. Upload a Thumbnail Image
  10. Upload a Header Image (the set height and width for these header images can be set within the Settings section of System Configuration. Select the 'Activities' dropdown and scroll to the 'Header Images' section to set the height and width of Activity header images in pixels)
  11. Enter the social domains of the group (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Discord, TikTok)
  12. Select the tick boxes to denote whether you would like to display the Email Address of the Group, Events tied to the Activity or News tied to the Activity
  13. Select whether the Group is currently Active
  14. Click ‘Submit’

Viewing the Profile of a Group

  1. Next to any Group within the ‘Management’ tab of the Groups Module, click the green Group Profile’ button.
  2. Here, you can view all of the information tied to a Group, as well as all current and previous Products, and any Open Product Applications.
