Setup Asset Characteristics

I want to set up characteristics for Assets…


Before setting up Assets within SUMS, you will need to set up the characteristics first, to populate the menu for creating an Asset.

  1. Setting up Companies

    • Navigate to the ‘Companies’ tab under the Assets module
    • Click the green ‘Create Company’ button in the top-right hand corner
    • Enter the name of the company e.g. “SUMS”
    • Click ‘Submit’
  2. Setting up Models

    • Firstly, navigate to the ‘Categories’ tab under the Assets module
    • Click the green ‘Create Category’ button in the top-right hand corner
    • Select the ‘Type’ that you would like to link the category to
    • Enter the name of the Category e.g. “Laptops”
    • Enter the Tag Prefix and Tag Pad (if applicable)
    • Click ‘Submit’

    • Next, navigate to the ‘Manufacturers’ tab under the Assets module

    • Click the green ‘Create Manufacturer’ button in the top right-hand corner
    • Enter the name of the Manufacturer, e.g. “Apple”
    • Click ‘Submit’

    • Finally, navigate to the ‘Models’ tab under the Assets module

    • Click the green ‘Create Model’ button in the top-right hand corner
    • Select a Category from the drop-down menu (populated from those you created in the first step)
    • Select a Manufacturer from the drop-down menu (populated from those you created in the last step)
    • Enter the name of Model e.g. “MacBook Pro 13 Inch”
    • Enter the Model Number of the item
    • Click ‘Submit’
  3. Setting up Suppliers

    • Navigate to the ‘Suppliers’ tab under the Assets module
    • Click the green ‘Create Supplier’ button in the top-right hand corner
    • Enter the name of the Supplier e.g. “Amazon”
    • Click ‘Submit
  4. Setting up Locations

    • Navigate to the ‘Locations’ tab under the Assets module
    • Click the green ‘Create Location’ button in the top-right hand corner
    • Enter the name of the Location e.g. “SU Main Office”
    • Click ‘Submit’
