How do I create my Groups?
First, you will need to create your ‘Groups’ of signage for the various areas within you Venues, Office Spaces, Campus etc…, for example a Group for your Union Bar, a Group for a University Building on Campus etc…
- Within the 'Digital Signage’ module, select ‘Groups’;
- Click ‘Create Group’ and enter:
- Name;
- Number of Slides;
- Default Carousel for the Groups (these are created within the ‘Carousels’ area of the module);
- If needed, enter a time you wish the Carousel to reboot each day;
- Confirm when you would like the Carousel to begin and end each day of the week;
- Click ‘Submit’ to save your new Group.
How do I set up Users and assign the relevant permissions?
Once you have created your Groups of signage, you will then need to create your ‘Users’ and assign them the correct permissions to be able to manage particular signage for certain Groups:
- Select ‘Users’ and click ‘Create User’;
- Start typing in the name of the user and select it from the dropdown;
- Select the Groups for which you want them to have access (these are created in the ‘Groups’ section of the module);
- Then select which areas you wish for them to be able to access and manage:
- Media Store;
- Carousels;
- Scheduler;
- Click ‘Submit’ and that User will be assigned all of the relevant permissions.
How can I modify the Displays for my Digital Signage?
Here you can modify all of your displays and assign them to the relevant Groups for which you wish them to show.
Note: You are unable to add Displays directly via the SUMS Dashboard. For assistance in adding further Displays, or further technical support, please contact [email protected].
- Select ‘Displays’ to view all of the displays available;
- You will see a list of all Displays available, including:
- Status (whether it is online, or showing the last date and time it was online);
- Group it is assigned to;
- Colour;
- When modifying a display, you can:
- Adjust the Name;
- Adjust the Group;
- Mute the Display;
- Reboot the Display;
- Update and Restore the Display;
- Select whether or not you would like the display muted;
- Reboot the Display;
- Update and Restore the Display.
- You can also ‘Remove’ a Display at any time.
Media Store
Here you can upload all the media you require for your displays, and add them to all of the relevant Groups.
- All of the Groups that you have created will be shown on the left-hand side at the bottom of the page;
- Select the Group for which you wish to upload your media – all media currently within that Group will show on the right-hand side;
- To upload further filed, click the ‘Upload Content’ box to browse your files and add the media you require;
- Click the ‘Upload Other’ dropdown if you want to upload a:
- YouTube Video;
- Vimeo;
- Template;
Carousels - How do I create a Carousel?
- Under ‘Carousels’, select ‘Create Carousel’;
- Enter the Name of your Carousel and click ‘Submit’ to create;
- You can edit the name of a Carousel at any time by selecting the ‘Modify’ button.
How can I add and manage the media for a Carousel?
- Once you have created a Carousel, click ‘Manage Media’;
- Here will show a list of the Groups that you have created that you can add media to;
- Select the dropdown for whichever Group you need to add media for;
- Slides will be listed in number order to which you can add media using the dropdown menus;
- If you wish to preview a slide that you have added media to, just select the green ‘Preview’ button alongside the relevant slide;
- You can edit the media for your slides within a carousel at any time, simply select a different media option from the dropdown menu;
- If you do not wish to have any media on that slide, just select ‘None’ from the dropdown.
How can I preview a whole carousel that I have created?
- Once you have added all of your media to your carousel, navigate back to the main ‘Carousel’ page;
- Select the yellow ‘Preview’ button to view all of the slides that you have created for that carousel, in the relevant order.
How can I schedule additional signage varying from the defaults I have set?
You may wish to set additional signage to show on certain Displays. For example, you may have a limited drinks offer you have available within one of your venues that you wish to promote for just a few days.
- Select ‘Scheduler’ from within the ‘Digital Signage’ Module;
- This will take you to a calendar, for which you can set either a monthly, weekly or daily view;
- To set any additional signage that varies from the defaults that you have set, simply click on the calendar where you would like to add this in;
- Select the ‘Displays’ you wish the signage to show – you can select all Listed Displays, all Displays within a certain area, or one particular display;
- Select the ‘Carousel’ you wish to show on those displays at your chosen time;
- Add a name for the additional signage you are setting;
- The time and date will auto-fill – these can be amended to the specific date and times you wish it to show;
- Click ‘Submit’.
Note: Any Carousels you set within the Scheduler will override any defaults set for those dates and times.
