Withdrawing a Candidate from an Election

You can withdraw a candidate from an election at any point from the submission of their nomination (and approval if this is enabled), right up until the results of the election are calculated.

  1. Navigate to the relevant election and select the blue ‘View’ button
  2. Find the relevant candidate within the Approved tab and you will have the option to ‘Withdraw’ the candidate from the election
  3. Select this option if you need to withdraw the candidate from the election

The page will refresh and a banner will appear to confirm that the candidate has been withdrawn from the election.

The candidate will remain within the Approved tab, but the ‘Withdraw’ button will have been replaced with confirmation of the date and time in which the candidate was withdrawn.

Why can I not withdraw a candidate from an election?

You may not be able to withdraw a candidate from an election if doing so will cause the election to have less candidates than required in order to calculate the results of the election.

This will only happen if the voting period of the election has ended - you an withdraw candidates as needed during the nomination and voting periods.

For example, you may have an election that requires 3 positions and 3 candidates have nominated. You will be unable to withdraw any of the candidates once the voting period has ended as this would result in you not having enough candidates within that election in order to calculate the results.

Can I withdraw a candidate from an election after the results have been calculated?

You are not currently able to withdraw a candidate from an election after its results have been calculated. If you find yourselves in a position where you need to withdraw a candidate from an election and its results have already been calculated, please get in touch with us to request support with this.
