Creating a SKU
Before you add any products, you need to create SKUs (Stock Keeping Units). These are the quantities your stock keeper will count your stock in. For instance, if you decide to count draught beer in gallons, you would create a SKU called “Gallons” that would be made up of 8 units (8 pints)
To create a SKU:
- Select the ‘SKU’ button
- Click ‘Create SKU’
- Enter the Name (E.G. Gallons)
- Enter the Units (8)
- Press Submit
Tip - If you buy the same item in more than one size it is worth bearing this in mind at this point. If you only buy Vodka in 70cl bottles, you could set up a SKU that is made up of 28 units (shots). If you use a mix of 70cl (28 shots) and 1.5L bottles (60 shots), it is better to create a SKU called shots with the unit value 1. This will make it easier to create ‘Tiers’ for the Sale Unit in the next step.
