Event Referral Codes

The referral codes functionality available within the Events module allows you to create unique referral codes that can be distributed to potential ticket purchasers to drive engagement throughout your events programme whilst rewarding student members, student groups or promo teams for spreading the word.

Whenever someone purchases a ticket using a referral code, each successful transaction is logged against the referral allowing you to track and report on successful referral redemptions.

What can I use referral codes for?

Ticket referral codes can be used to reward your student members, student groups or promo teams for encouraging engagement within their SU.

Want to increase engagement at your weekly student club night via a promo scheme? Create a referral code for your promo teams and see who receives the most referrals.

You can setup your referral codes in whatever way to suit your use case. You can simply have one referral for i.e. all of your Reps to use when promoting events. However, if you wanted each of your Reps to have their own unique code, you can do this as well.

This functionality is separate to the brands/affiliations functionality that also exists within the Events module:

Brands/affiliations allows you to facilitate event-specific affiliation schemes for your activities/student groups and provides them with a unique link to pass onto members to purchase their tickets. You can set a total ticket allocation and offer a set amount of income to your activities/student groups per ticket that is sold via their unique link.

Referral codes allow you to create an unlimited amount of referral ‘types’ (such as Rep referrals, Officer referrals etc…) and assign any available event ticket products to the referral - referrals do not have to be event specific if you don't want them to be.

These referral codes can be distributed by whomever you pass these onto. Referrals are then recorded either by:

  • the ticket purchaser entering the referral code when they add the product to their basket
  • someone purchasing a ticket via a referral product page, which lists all of the products eligible under that referral code

You can easily view how many successful purchases a referral has received and use this figure to reward your members in whatever way you wish.
