Can I hide an event ticket that is on sale?

This guide covers how you can hide a ticket product when it is on sale, allowing you to share a unique product link to selected users for them to view and purchase a ticket.

This is a useful option if you have certain ticket products for an event that you only wish certain people to be able to view.

How do I hide a ticket product?

Hiding a ticket product can be done when creating or modifying the product:

  1. Create a ticket as normal, or click 'Modify' against an existing product if you need to hide a product that you have already created
  2. Scroll down to the Shop Options section
  3. Under this section you will find the below options:

  1. Enter the unique Product Link you would like to apply to that product
  2. Ensure Hide Product is ticked
  3. Save your product as normal

The ticket product will then be hidden from the event on both your website and the SU App when it is on sale, and the ticket will only be viewable on your website via the unique product link that you have entered (hidden products will not be accessible via the SU App).

When a user views an event as normal, if it has any hidden products, they will not be able to view any reference to these tickets on the page.

Please note: Where an event date has only hidden products live, the 'Buy Tickets' button displayed (as per the standard SUMS web templates) will not be displayed. Please refer to the external developer documentation for further information.

What URL do I share with people to view a hidden ticket product?

The URL for your product will be the same as your other ticket products, but include the specific product link that you have entered.

For example, the standard URLs for your ticket products may be similar to:

https://trialsu.com/events/products/[productID]

All you will need to do is tag the specific product link you entered when creating your event to the end.

For example, if you entered a product link of hidden_product, then the URL would be similar to:

https://trialsu.com/events/products/[productID]-hidden_product

Can I create a unique URL for a ticket product without hiding it?

Yes - if you wish to create a unique URL for your ticket product, but do not wish to hide it, you can do so.

If you do this, note that the ticket product will still be available to view via its standard URL, as per your web templates.

Below provides examples of what URLs your product would be accessible via, dependant on the options that you have selected:

'Hide Product' Selected 'Product Link' Added URLs (the below structure is an example only; the correct URLs will be dependent on your web templates)
N N /events/product/1234 /events/product/1234-
N Y /events/product/1234 /events/product/1234- /events/product/1234-product_link
Y Y /events/product/1234-product_link

No - if you wish to hide a ticket product, you will need to set a unique product link against the product for you to share with potential purchasers.

Can I hide a ticket product at any time?

You can hide a ticket product at any point. You can add the options shown above when you first create the event ticket, or you can modify the ticket at a later date and add these options in.

You can also remove these options whilst the ticket is on sale, if you wish to make a previously hidden product available.

Do I need to hide the event as well?

If you need to hide a ticket product, you do not need to hide the event itself as well.

When someone navigates to the event in question and views the products available, the product you have hidden will simply not be shown.

Can I hide an entire event instead?

If you need to hide an event as whole, and not just a specific ticket product, you have the option to do this when setting the status of your event.

Take a look at our guidance on how to hide an event for further guidance.
