Converting Associate Memberships
Which Associate Members can be converted to Students?
Only Associate Members that have been marked as ‘Is Staff’ within their membership profile can be converted to a Student within the system.
How can I check that an Associate Member has been marked as staff?
When you enter the ‘Search Membership’ page, there is a ‘Type’ column which confirms whether the member is a Student or Associate.
Associates that are marked as staff will be shown as ‘Associate (Staff)’ within this column.
How can I mark an Associate Member as staff?
-
Find the relevant member within the ‘Search Membership’ section of the Members module;
-
View the membership profile by selecting the ‘View Profile’ button;
-
Click the blue ‘Modify’ button alongside where it confirms the member type;
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and ensure the ‘Is Staff’ box is checked.
The member will then be listed as ‘Associate (Staff)’ within the ‘Type’ column.
How can I convert an Associate Member to a Student for the purposes of i.e. viewing a test Election?
-
Select ‘Search Membership’ from within the ‘Members’ module;
-
Find the relevant Associate Member you require;
-
Click the green ‘Convert User Type’ button to switch the member type to Student;
-
This will grant them student access i.e. to view an Election on your SU website;
-
Ensure users who no longer require this access are converted back to Associates using the same button.
Once you have converted an Associate Member to a Student, they will then be shown as ‘Student’ within the ‘Type’ column.
Members who are marked as Students but have the green ‘Convert User Type’ button are original Associate (Staff) Members that have been temporarily converted to a Student.
Note: Only Associates can be converted to Students; existing Students cannot be converted to Associates in this way.
