Comment Moderation

If a student comments on an Officer Report and it is deemed offensive or inappropriate, any other student can select the report flag.

Each report will appear within the ‘Comment Moderation’ section of the module showing:

  1. System ID
  2. Offence (as selected by the member who has reported the comment)
  3. Who the comment was Reported By
  4. When the comment was Reported On

Reviewing Reports

Click ‘View’ to review the details of the comment and why it has been reported:

  • Commenter
  • Previous Offences – here will confirm whether the comment in question has been reported and marked as a valid offence previously (and the reason given)
  • Comment
  • Reported by
  • Reported Offence
  • Reported On

Once you have reviewed the report, you can mark it as either:

  • ‘Invalid Offence’ – this will remove the report (flag) from the ‘Comment Moderation’ section and the comment will remain on the website
  • ‘Valid Offence’ – this will remove the report (flag) from the ‘Comment Moderation’ section and mark the report as valid:
    • 1st Offence – if a comment has been marked as a valid offence just once, the comment will remain on the website (a pop-up will appear confirming)
    • 2nd Offence – if a comment has been marked as a valid offence a second time, the comment will be removed from the website (a pop-up will appear confirming)
    • Multiple Offences – if you mark a comment as a valid offence that has been validated multiple times, a pop-up will show confirming that the comment has already been removed from the website
