Scanning from an Alternate Device
The QR code scanner available on the SU App can be accessed on a till or desktop to allow you to scan these codes via various devices.
Accessing the Scanner Page on your Device

Navigate to the QR code scanner on the SU App:

Select the ‘My Union’ button on the bottom right of the main app screen;

Select ‘Administration’;

Click ‘Scan Tickets’;

A notification will pop-up asking you to confirm you are happy to leave the app and open the scanner in your browser – select ‘Yes’;

Once you have accessed this page, enter the URL given for this page into your browser on your device;

You will then be able to access whichever scanner you require (product collection, event tickets, register interest…).
Scanning from your Device
In order to scan from your chosen device, you will need to follow the below steps to enable this:

Camera Scanning (i.e. from a desktop) – if you have a webcam or similar device connected, you will be able to scan QR codes as usual via your desktop as soon as you have accessed the relevant scanning page;

External USB Scanner (i.e. connected to a till) - to scan via an external USB scanner, you will require one additional step: once you have selected the relevant scanning page, click the text input button on the scanner screen to switch to an alternative page.
From here you will then be able to scan QR codes via a scanner connected to your till.
Extended Session Length
Within the ‘Scanner Permissions’ section of the ‘Admin’ module, you are able to grant a user a permission type of ‘Extended Session Length’.
Any links generated by that user will remain active for 6 months, meaning they do not have to generate a new link each time they need to log into an alternative device.
